A taste of South America · Saturday 27/10/18 · Chester

£75.00

South America has been a favourite amongst Cheshire wine lovers and beyond for many years now and Argentina is very much ahead of the game with quality wines at fantastic prices. However we are now seeing great wines from Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay and Bolivia in our high street and independent wine stores as well of course from the old regional star, Chile.

We’ll welcome you to the private dining room at Restaurant 1539 with amazing views over Chester Racecourse and you’ll enjoy a selection of wonderful wines from around South America which will be matched to a four course gourmet lunch from the team at Restaurant 1539.

What's included

You’ll enjoy a fabulous wine and food pairing experience at Restaurant 1539 overlooking Chester Racecourse with Cheshire wine writer and presenter,  Richard J Smith.

Richard will welcome you with a glass of sparkling wine which he has chosen from one of today’s incredible wine producing nations.

There’s a four course gourmet lunch with a different glass of wine selected to pair with each course. Learn all the basics of wine tasting (find out what all the swirling and sniffing tells you about) and much more. Lovers of full-bodied South American reds such as Malbec won’t be disappointed yet there will be a fantastic wine selection to suit everyone.

You’ll taste 6 different wines from around South America over the course of the afternoon, all of which are sourced from our favourite local retailers and represent excellent value for money. Of course we don’t sell any wine so your bespoke wine tasting notes book is there for you to use during the day and take home with you: a handy reference should you wish to visit any of the wine stores we’ve used at a later date.

What to expect from your afternoon out at wine school:

  • 12:30 Arrivals and introductions with a glass of sparkling wine to welcome you.
  • 12:50 An introduction to food and wine pairing.
  • 13:00 Lunch: a different quality wine chosen to match each course. (select the menu bar below to read your menu for the day)
  • 14:30 Take a breather for coffee or tea with our compliments as we prepare for the afternoon red wines.
  • 14:50 Your food and wine pairing experience continues as we share our cheese selection with you to try with the final two red wines you’ll be enjoying.
  • We expect to finish at around 3.30pm.

Richard has recently been featured in The Daily Mail and Cheshire Life magazine and he regularly writes for The Taster magazine.
