What's included

The Chester Grosvenor is a gem in the north of England and famous around the world, boasting five red stars which reflects it’s excellence throughout and Executive Chef Chef Simon Radley has held a coveted Michelin Star here for 28 consecutive years.

We’ll welcome you to The Gallery on the first, floor beneath the 28,000 crystal chandelier, with a glass of The Gusbourne Estate Brut Reserve before you join us in The Drawing Room for an evening of timeless luxury.

Enjoy our fine wine selection sourced from Burgundy together with cheeses chosen personally by Executive Chef Simon Radley. We’re thrilled to feature the latest available vintages from fine wine producer Domaine Mischief and Mayhem whose wines are hand-crafted by Michael and Fiona Ragg. We’ll introduce the first of our cheeses paired with your first glass of wine and you’ll enjoy the enhanced flavours that each pairing creates as well as learning a little more about the wines and wine region as well as each of the cheeses. Throughout the evening you will enjoy different cheese tastings matched with three different glasses of wine.

Our fine wine selection will be served in Riedel Crystal glassware and, as always, we will provide the winemakers’ tasting notes for you to take home.

A variety of cheese tastings will be served which will be paired with our wine selection throughout the evening.

Vegetarian and specialist dietary options are always available by prior arrangement.

Your wine school host

The evening will be hosted by our Founder, Richard Smith, who will share with you some of his twenty five years knowledge of all things wine as well as some anecdotes (but alas, no secrets) from his time as a butler. Richard trained at one of the world’s finest hotels and is proud to have advised several members of the British Royal Family and a number of international heads of state and celebrities. Richard has recently been featured in The Daily Mail and Cheshire Life magazine and he regularly writes for The Taster magazine. He most recently appeared at Three Wine Men in Manchester alongside TV wine legends Oz Clarke, Olly Smith and Tim Atkin MW.
